I tend to be a worrier anyway, but I lost a lot of sleep worrying about how I was going to pay the bills right after Laura died. Selfishness is a base instinct. In this painting I am acting like Mr. Scrooge. For a while, I just wanted to withdraw from the world. I need to remind myself that I am not alone, and that I can reach out to people.
